solidworks Changing Assembly Refrences using macro

is there is any 3d party tool or macro that enable me to change refrences in assembly from outside solidworks,

we are making our own configurator solution, and it would be very helpful if we can access meta data related to assembly refrences from outside solidworks, since it seems not possible usnig equations and design tables.
